I. Staffing:  

The department employs 31 staff members including 9 doctors, 16 nurses, 3 nurse-aids and 3 cashiers.

Dr. Can Phu Nhuan is now the director of the department.

II. Development process:

Established in 1981, the department was successively headed by the following directors :

1981 - 1983 : Dr. Dang Phuong Kiet

1984 - 1992 : Dr. Nguyen Thi Hien

1983 - 1996 : Dr. Nguyen Hong Ngu

Since 1997   : Dr. Phung Thi Hoan

III. Activities:

The department assumes the role to receive and admit and treat all emergency cases transferred to the hospital most of which are severe cases. These include severe shocks, respiration failure, high fever with fits or convulsion, injuries etc.

The department staff are skilled and actively take part in training for themselves, teaching their peers at the primary level and in doing research such on various emergency subjects as necrotizing entero-colitis and meningitis...
