I. Staffing :             

The department is staffed with 16 members of which there are two masters, one doctor, 10 nurses and two nurse-aids.

II. Development process:  

The department  was established in 1982.

Hereunder are successive head doctors of the department :

1982 - 1988 : Dr. Tran Thi Nga

1989 - 1998 : Prof. Dao Ngoc Dien

1999 - 2000 : Dr. Tran Minh Tan

Sine 2000   : Dr. Nguyen Thi Yen M.S

 III. Activities:  

The department has 25 beds and is in charge of the treatment of children aged 0 to 15 years with malnutrition and diseases caused by vitamin deficiency.

The department carries out health education for mothers on childhood nutrition and prevention of malnutrition, breast feeding, prevention of Xerophthemia due to vitamin A deficiency etc.

The department has been cooperating closely with the National Institute for Nutrition, the Institute of Chemistry and others on research into possible cures for malnutrition, anemia and mineral deficiency in children.
