II. History of development:  

Established in 1969

Heads of department since the establishment :

From 1973 to 1987    : Doctor Pham Van Yen

From 1991 to 2001    : PhD. Doctor Bui Manh Tuan

From 2001 until now  : PhD. Doctor Le Phuc Phat

Achievement

      When National Institute of Paediatrics (NIP) was first established, the pathologic Anatomy department cooperated with the one in Bach Mai Hospital until 1981. After that the pathologic Anatomy department of NIP operated separately, consolidated and developed.

 III. Main activities:  

1. Main functions:

Contribute to the diagnosis of the cause of infants' death, improve the diagnostic ability in treating and preventing activities.

Give training to paediatricians and postgraduates

Contribute to the development of pathologic Anatomy branch

2. Medical service:

Conduct autopsy to find the causes of death Biopsy or microbiopsy, pathologic tissue diagnosis, classify pathologic tissues in order to improve diagnosis and treatment. Cytology Keep specimen for teaching and doing research.

3. Scientific research and education:

Do scientific research: preside 36 subjects at basis level, 1 subject at ministry level, take part in 4 subjects at ministry level, 2 subjects at national level which have been checked and taken over.

     IV. National and international cooperation:

Biopsy pathologic tissue diagnosis to classify all kinds of tumors, especially malignant fetus tumor in children.

Keep pathologic anatomy's records, biopsic results, cytologic results on internet.
