I. Staffing :             

The department is staffed with 18 members of which one is professor PhD, 1 Ph.D., 2 masters. The rest are nurses and nurse-aids.

II. Development process:  

Founded in 1972, the department then was part of the Gastro-Respiratory disease department and had only 10 beds and one endocrinologist.

In 1981, the department of endocrinology was formally established with 25 beds and staffed with 4 endocrinologists.

In 1990, the department started to bear the new title  "The department of Endocrinology, Neatabolism and Genetics" according to its functions.

The Director of the department is Professor Ph.D. Nguyen Thu Nhan

The Deputy is doctor Nguyen Thi Hoan Ph.D.

 III. Activities:  

The department is accountable for the treatment of children aged 0 to 15 with glandular, metabolic and genetic diseases. It also take part in outreach activities at the primary level giving lectures and instructions on the subject to the community and to medical students, post graduates and higher educated professionals.

The department has closely been cooperating with Australian Royal Children's Hospital of Melbourne, Kobe Institute of Micro bacteriology, American AG organization and other international organizations on doing research into possible cures for different childhood diseases in relation to endocrinology, metabolism and genetics.
