I. Staffing:  

The department employs 31 staff members including 9 doctors, 16 nurses, 3 nurse-aids and 3 cashiers.

Dr. Can Phu Nhuan is now the director of the department.

II. Development process:

The department was founded together with the founding of the hospital in 1969. The successive head doctors of the department include :

1969 - 1996 : Dr. Nguyen Thi Vinh

1997 - 2000 : Dr. Nguyen Quy Linh

Since 2001 :   Dr. Can Phu Nhuan

III. Assignments and activities:

The department assumes the role to carry out examinations and write prescriptions for all outpatients in the referral system round the clock.

It is supposed to follow-up all outpatients' health status and teach mothers how to feed their children and prevent common childhood diseases.

The department also taken part in the pediatric ambulatory activities at the community level.
