I. STAFFING :             

Total: 40 people

Including: 3 Second Degree Medical doctors, 02 Masters, 02 First Degree Medical doctors, 28 nurses and 05 assistant nurses.

II. HISTORY OF DEVELOPMENT:

Year of Foundation:

Neonatalogy Department was founded together with the establishment of National Hospital of Pediatrics.

 Heads of the department:

From 1969 to 1978     Professor Ha Thi Tu

From 1978 to 1995     Assistant Professor To Thanh Huong

From 1996 until now: Master-Second Degree Medical Doctor .Khu Thi Khanh Dung

Archievements:

3 class Labour Decoration in 2000

Prime minister's certificate of merit for work archievements.

Ministry of Healths certificate of merit for work archievements.

   III. MAIN ACTIVITIES :  

1.      Treatments:

Number of beds: 35 units;

·        Pattern of patients:

-         Premature;

-         Pneumonia;

-         Asphyxia;

-         Septicemia;

-         Jaundice;

-         Others

2.      Medical Service:

-     Treat severe .new-borns transferred from all levels with high technique such as using ventilator, .CPAP system, blood exchange transfusion etc.

-     Treat extreme premature;

-     Do research on new-born diseases.

-     Provide training courses in neonat.ology to medical students and postgraduates

-     Give treatment, do research, teach medical clinic practise;

3.      Scientific research and education:

-     Do research on subjects at national level and hospital level.

-     Take part in national programs of taking care of children's health

    IV. NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERRATION:

-         Cooperate with WHO in breast feeding program;

-     Cooperate with ORBIS in .ROP program;

-     Cooperate with American and Italian non-governmental organizations in improving new-born care programs.

-     Cooperate with Royal Children Hospital in Melbourne (Australia) in newborn resuscitation program.

-     Study indirect .hyper-bilirubinemia in new-born;

-     Do screening tests to early detect metabolic disorder diseases in new-born.

-     ECHO in diagnosing heart congenital diseases;
