I. Staffing:

          The department is staffed with 17 members of which there is a professor, a master, 3 doctors, 10 nurses and 2 nurse-aids.

II. Development process:

The department was established in 1998 and headed by professor Nguyen Cong Khanh, also the director of the Hematology department.

III. Assignments and activities:

The department is the sole body assuming the role to treat children from 0 to 15 years of age with cancer and tumors.

The department has been doing research into epidemiology, clinical aspects and treatment of children with cancer. It has been cooperating fruitfully with Australia, France and the USA on training oncologists and cancer nursing staff and with different department in the hospital such as the Imaging department, the Pathology department and the Surgical department on introduction of international advanced treatment plans.
