I. ORGANIZATION:

II. INTRODUCTION:

- Before 1980 : Laboratory Hematology Department of Institute of Protection of Health for Children

- Since 1981 : move to Vietnamese – Sweden Hospital Children, the department was widen and developed.

- Since 1998 : Special tests have been done such as Cytochemise, Coagulation, Electrophoresis of Hemoglobine, Immunology…

- The first head of department : Nguyen Trong Qui - MD ; The second one : Prof. Nguyen Cong Khanh – MD, PhD ; The thirty one: Duong Ba Truc – MD , PhD. Current the head of department : Tran Thi Hong Ha – MD, PhD

III. FUNCTIONS AND WORKS OF DEPARTMENT:

- Routine tests for the examination and the treatment as well as the diagnosis .

- Special tests such as hemograme, myelograme, cytochemise, coagulation, electrophoresis of hemoglobin, immunology…. for diagnosis of blood diseases, Thalassemia, immunological disorders, classification of leukemia and for following up of the treatment of the patient with HIV…

- High technique tests for organ and bone marrow transplantation such as : presesitivity pretransplantation, Cross – match lymphocyte, HLA typing, counting absolute stem cell (CD34)

- Research : participate in the researches of Institute, of Minister of Health and of Gorvement.

- Participate in training staffs from lower laboratory levels ; training course of HIV/AIDS and professional training course for many local hospital such as Nghe An, Lai Chau, Hai phong, Dien Bien…

IV. ACHIVEMENT:

- All the members of our department do our best , live peacefully, pass every difficulties together.

- Do the works excellently what are required by NHP

- Do well special tests for the clinical doctors to rapidly and  exactly diagnose and to follow up  the diseases such as anemia, leukemia as well as other ones

- Develop many high technique tests for short time such as counting absolute stem cell (CD34), presesitivity pretransplantation, Cross – match lymphocyte, HLA typing, leukemia immunophenotyping by Facs Calibur…

- Participate in the program of the organ transplantation, especially participate directly the program of the bone marrow transplantation.

- Participate in training staffs from lower laboratory levels

- Participate in researching leveled institute , leveled Minister and leveled Gorvement.

V. IN THE FITURE:

- Continue doing well the routine tests and special tests that are available

- Continue developing high technique tests , training course in order to improve and update the knowledge and skill of junior staffs.

- Upgrade coagulation tests, immunological tests and tests for diagnosis of hemoglobinopathies…

- Update the newest information of the knowledge and skill for all staffs. Increase the number of  model equipments

Participate in researching some congenital inhereted disorders.
